Resumen

Runoff and sedim ent transport processes were studied during the 1991 sum mer season in
two sm all pyroclastic drainage basins in D eception Island, South Shetland Islands. Runoff was almost continuous for about 40 days, showing a strong association between stream flow and temperature. The com puted hydraulic geom etry values indicate a rapid increase of depth and velocity, in order to m aintain flow competence to transport larger bed load particles at increasing discharge values; width is relatively conservative.
